LKC Container Usage Terms & Conditions

1. General Information

This document outlines the terms and conditions governing the use of the Lucan Kayak Club (LKC) container by club members. It specifies the rights and responsibilities associated with individual access to the storage facility and the obligations of members utilising this service.

2. Member Benefits

Members are granted individual access to their personal equipment stored in the LKC container. This access is designed to be flexible, allowing members to use the facility at times that suit their personal, academic, work, and life schedules. In situations where the number of permit requests exceeds available storage, a waiting list will be maintained to ensure fair allocation of space.

3. Member Obligations and Undertakings

  • Maintain an up-to-date, fully paid membership with Lucan Kayak Club.
  • Pay the appropriate boat storage fee which is based on 1 boat per member.
  • Always respect the property of both the Lucan Kayak Club and other Club members.
  • Use the storage facility solely for the storage of boats and paddles; no other personal items or equipment should be left in the container overnight.
  • Any personal gear left hanging within club facilities or found in boats will be removed from the Club Container. Members who wish to retrieve their removed gear must submit a written request to the Facilities Officer and pay a fine of €30 to the club account. If the removed gear is not claimed within one month, the club will dispose of it.
  • Any member who consistently fails to follow these storage guidelines risk losing their access to the club’s storage facilities. Reinstatement of storage privileges will only be considered upon submission of a written request to the general committee.
  • Never take or use without permission or misuse the property belonging to other club members under any circumstances.
  • Whenever possible and practical, clearly label all stored equipment with the owner’s name for easy identification.
  • Understand and accept that Lucan Kayak Club holds no liability for any damage to or loss of equipment while stored in the container; members are strongly encouraged to obtain their own insurance cover for their property.
  • Do not store boats or equipment in the LKC container without holding a valid permit and having paid the appropriate boat storage fee.
  • Help maintain the security and integrity of the boat store and safeguard the equipment of all club members.
  • Keep the access code to the boat store confidential and use it solely for personal access; under no circumstances should the access code be shared with third parties.
  • Maintain the boat store in a clean and tidy condition, consistent with the standard expected by all members.

4. Contract Terms

By signing this agreement, the member acknowledges and accepts that Lucan Kayak Club reserves the right to terminate this contract by providing written notice should the member breach any condition of this agreement. If the member fails to remedy the breach within 14 working days of receiving such notice, the contract may be terminated. Termination of the contract, for any reason, will be without prejudice to the rights of either party.

5. General Provisions

  • All communication regarding this agreement will be conducted in writing via LKC Club Container WhatsApp or by email.
  • If either party is unable to fulfil their obligations due to circumstances beyond their control, they will be released from those obligations for the duration and to the extent that they are affected.
  • All boats and equipment are stored at the member’s own risk. Lucan Kayak Club accepts no responsibility for any loss or damage to items stored in the container.

6. Member Acknowledgement

By signing below, the member confirms that they will:

  • Observe and always comply with the terms and conditions of this agreement.
  • Follow all rules and regulations set out by Lucan Kayak Club.
  • Comply with all reasonable directions issued by the Lucan Kayak Club Committee.
  • Conduct themselves in a manner that does not bring themselves or Lucan Kayak Club into disrepute.
